Marlaina Donato is a freelance health and wellness writer,
multi-genre author, composer-recording artist, and visionary painter.
Her health articles of holistic and integrative focus have included interviews with some of the most significant sources in the industry: Mayo Clinic, Dr. David Perlmutter, yoga legend Rodney Yee, celebrity chef Rocco DiSpirito, and neuroscientist and global Transcendental Meditation leader Tony Nader. She is a regular national content writer for Natural Awakenings magazine and has also written for Organic Lifestyle MagazineTaste for Life, and other publications. Occasionally, due to editorial protocol (when there are more than two of her articles in a monthly issue), she will write under the pseudonym, Maya Whitman.  She is the author of fifteen books in several genres including the 1998 OBE memoir Naked Soul (Llewellyn Worldwide),  the reference book Multidimensional Aromatherapy
and Goddess Consciousness, a handbook of
women's spirituality.
She is most at home expressing the soul through the mediums of music, painting, video, and digital photographyUnder the name WillowWynd, Marlaina has released 21 albums in the genres of
semi-classical  piano, world, new age, and ambient vocals.
Her diverse work has been featured in short films,
gallery art installations, meditation videos,
self-help courses, and small business promos.
In 2016, she experienced a life-altering health remission
from a 25-year battle with myalgic encephalomyelitis (CFIDS) and severe fibromyalgia; she is deeply grateful for deep, energetic
mind-body tools that ushered in a new life and consciousness.
From her corner of the world in the beautiful Lake Wallenpaupack region of Pennsylvania, she opts out of owning a smartphone and finds great joy in hiking wildlife sanctuaries year-round with her beloved husband, Jos. C. Donato, an author of historical fiction.
On any given day, she can be found painting in a field
or sketching under a tree, reveling in the latest cycle of wildflowers
or a fresh snowfall, cooking up a healthy gourmet feast,
or brewing a healing tea from her extensive herbal pantry.
After a two-year sabbatical from social media,
she recently opened an Instagram account to share
her photo journal that celebrates life and inspiration.
Marlaina's greatest influence was her mother Winni, a multi-talented Renaissance woman who independently studied nutrition and managed health food stores in New York City in the 1950s.
From this early foundation, Marlaina continues to live by the belief that healing, art, and spirit are indeed a singular force.
